Why Choose Sober Living?

To accomplish sober living is a difficult process.  I use the word process because it is best done in a series of actions or steps.  Rehab or treatment is usually the initial step in helping an addict get clean.  Once treatment has commenced, the addict is thrown back into the "real world" or same world that was a catalyst in their addiction to begin with.  Moving in to a sober living home is a way for the addict to slowly harmonize back in to their new drug free life.  A sober living house is a place where someone dealing with a drug addiction will reside with other recovering addicts under professional care, though allowed to leave the house and start acclimating with the world as a newly sober person.  The sober house also known as transitional living house is often a haven to come back to after a day out in the world.  The freedoms and daily struggles the real world can present to a newly sober individual can be daunting, the residents of the sober house present help and support that help ease this time of transition.  Sober living also helps the addict enjoy living sober.  Keeping your mind and body active with things that help avoid activities which can lead to relapse are one of the best qualities of a sober living house.

The final step for a recovering addict is to continue to cultivate and maintain a sober living.  Whether you are dealing with a drug addiction or alcohol addiction the biggest struggle is often not getting sober but staying sober.  After leaving the support of a sober living home it can be easy to fall into the old way of life that the addict is used to.  Using the friends and support gained while residing at a sober house can be a key component to a recovering addict when old ways of thinking start to enter the mind.  It is vital to set up a support system so you do not have to return again to drug rehab. Sober living teaches you how to live everyday without drugs or alcohol.  There are plenty of things to do which don't include drugs or alcohol.  Enjoy sober living and it will enjoy you.
